Plant Information

The Scabiosas may have a rather ugly name, but wow, what beautiful flowers! (Butterflies will love them as much as you do.) And once this one gets going, it gives you true blue flowers week after week. They're great in the garden, and also one of the best perennial flowers for cutting--they have long, clean stems that display each flower beautifully in a vase. Sometimes this perennial is called Pincushion Flower.

Comments about American Meadows Butterfly Blue Scabiosa:

First year it was ok. Second year it is a non-stop bloomer! Lovely flowers; some may consider the plant itself a little leggy. Looks great in my hosta garden.

Comments about American Meadows Butterfly Blue Scabiosa:

This flower did not dissapoint! It bloomed throughout the summer non-stop and I could still see flowers on it when winter started! The one con is that it does not look blue, but more of a purple, but it was beautiful nonetheless. It also makes a great cut flower so you can bring the beauty indoors. It you get this flower you will not be disappointed!

              Q & A

              Plant With These:

              USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

              • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
              • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

              Find Your Planting Zone:
