Pretty spring blooms bring lasting foliage for privacy and bird habitat

Weigela shrubs are tough, hardy plants that flower heavily in spring and produce attractive foliage that remains throughout the season. With blooms in shades of pinks, reds, and whites, Weigela attract plenty of birds and bees to the yard. This cane-producing shrub sends multiple branches up through the soil each year, as it spreads and naturalizes. Use Weigela to create a hedge for privacy or wildlife habitat, plant compact varieties in containers to add interest to a patio setting, or site along a bank to prevent erosion.
