USDA Hardiness Planting Zones
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
These Plantable Seed Paper American Flags make the perfect party favor or decoration for Memorial Day, Independence Day or any other patriotic celebration. Each flag measures 3” x 1.75” and is embedded with a variety of perennial and annual wildflower seeds including: Zinnia (Zinnia elegans), Candytuft (Iberis umbellata), English Daisy (Bellis perennis) and Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta). Easy-to-grow seed paper shapes are printed with all-natural, water-based inks. Just tear into pieces and place them in water overnight. Plant pieces outdoors in a container or in the ground. Cover lightly with soil so that they won’t dry out, and keep watered until seeds sprout and grow.
