Description
‘Purple Dream’ Asiatic Lily is a highly unusual up-facing lily with deep violet-pink petals and a plum, almost black, center. Asiatic Lilies are incredibly floriferous, with broad blooms atop upright stems with fine foliage. They are quite hardy once established and will multiply, providing years of enjoyment. Plant Asiatic Lily bulbs in average, well-drained soils – too much moisture can cause rot. They’ll perform best in full sun, and may benefit from afternoon shade to protect them from the most intense heat of the day; they prefer roots to be cool and shaded by other plants. Staking is rarely needed, thanks to their upright habit. The bright blooms attract pollinators and make excellent cut flowers. As flowers fade, remove them to avoid the formation of seedpods. Deer-resistant and rabbit resistant, they can be toxic to cats if ingested.
