June Bride Caladium
Description
A fancy leaf Caladium for shade or part-shade, 'June Bride' Caladium moves beyond all-white cultivars with the addition of fine green edges and gentle green veins that slowly suffuse to a white center. Occasionally, a rosy blush appears as the leaf matures. Caladiums can tolerate up to four hours of gentle sun each day, provided it isn’t punishing afternoon sun which can burn the leaves. Caladiums are ideal for pots, baskets, and patio containers, where their fast-growing foliage makes a statement; they can also be used as groundcovers in the warmest climates. Caladiums are heat lovers and strong growth will occur as heat builds. Plant bulbs 1-2 inches under fertile, moist soil after soil has warmed and well past the chance of frost.
Caladiums are perennial in zones 9-10; in cooler zones, you can lift and store the bulbs in a cool, dry location for the winter, then re-plant them in spring. Harmful if ingested.
