Overview
Sweetheart Emperor Tulip emerges alongside early spring Daffodils, illuminating the garden with a sunny yellow glow. Blossoms appear creamy yellow from a distance, but fine detail emerges upon closer inspection. Each petal begins lemon-yellow, with golden flares stretching up toward the white-rimmed tip. Emperor Tulips attract bees and butterflies to the garden. (Tulipa fosteriana ‘Sweetheart’)

Description
12-18” tall x 4-6” wide. Sweetheart Emperor Tulip (Tulipa fosteriana ‘Sweetheart’) produces single, cup-shaped blooms on long stems ideal for cutting. Collect by the armful for gorgeous, long-lasting bouquets. The delicate fragrance of Sweetheart Tulip infuses the air with the scent of springtime. Emperor tulips are known for their large flowers and early blooming. They pair nicely with small early spring bulbs like Crocus and Grape Hyacinth. Plant them toward the front of beds and borders or along walkways. Emperor Tulips perennialize readily given proper conditions. Plant in locations receiving six or more hours of bright sun per day. These bulbs require a well-drained soil and thrive in areas that are relatively dry in summer. Tulip bulbs rot easily in wet soils, especially in winter. As with any Tulip, allow foliage to brown and die back naturally rather than cutting to feed next year's blooms.
