Description
Red Riding Hood has been the top Rockgarden or Greigii Tulip for decades. These short tulips with big red blooms are famous for 'opening wide' - just look at those fabulous flowers! The flowers last for about 3 weeks but the exquisite purple mottled foliage makes it decorative before and after the blooms.
The Greigii Tulips for early bloom. Why wait? With these beauties in your garden, your tulip bloom season will be in full swing long before your neighbors'. The famous Greigii Tulips are the largest group of modern hybrids that are very close to some of the wild species. This is one reason they're so dependably perennial.
Commonly called rockgarden tulips, these are the ones with big, full blooms on short stems, only about 12' tall. The foliage is dramatically striped, the flowers are particularly brilliant in color. Unlike other tulips, these open wide, almost like waterlilies. If you've never grown these, add them this year, and you'll be hooked. And since they're perennial, unlike most of the taller varieties, these beauties will be with you for years.
