Description
(24-28" tall x 24" wide) ‘Waltzing Mathilda’ Single Dahlia fills the summer garden in cheerful single flowers of soft pink, often edged in cherry red. Dark green to burgundy foliage provides added interest to the garden bed. ‘Waltzing Mathilda’ is a great addition to a garden border or where a splash of color is needed in the late summer garden. Plentiful 4-inch blooms are favorites of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and they are long-lasting cut flowers too. The more you cut them, the more they will bloom! Flowering from mid-summer until frost, this easy-to-grow Dahlia is happy in average soil with good drainage in a sunny location (they will tolerate light shade in hot areas). Supply consistent moisture during the growing season. Great container plants too. In zones 8+ it is perennial. In zones 7-3, dig the tubers after the first frost, and store them in a cool, dry place until replanting them in spring, or treat them as annuals and simply plant them every spring so you can enjoy the wide and wild world of Dahlias.
