Description
'Queeny Purple' Hollyhock is an AAS (All American Selections) award winner, tested for superior garden performance by horticulture professionals across North America. Though Hollyhocks are short-lived perennials or biennials, they reseed copiously in the garden. This allows the gardener to annually enjoy the vertical display of frilly flowers and rounded leaves that typify the flower’s cottage garden look. Generously sized frilled or single flowers are very attractive to spring and summer pollinators, and they also make excellent cut flowers. Flowers open over a long period from the bottom of the stem upwards, and contrast particularly well with whites in the garden. Grow in a sunny location in average soils with excellent drainage. Cut back stems as flowers fade to encourage reblooming. Leave some seed pods to ripen if you would like it to self-seed.
