Description
24-48" tall x 12-18" wide. Floristan White Blazing Star (Liatris spicata) has narrow, grass-like leaf blades that add textural contrast to its gleaming white spires. Each plant produces multiple flower spikes in dense clumps for a strong vertical presence in the garden. Plant in mixed perennial beds to provide to break up bright colors and complement bold textures. Liatris plants thrive in full sun under a variety of growing conditions, provided soils are well draining. Plants are drought tolerant once established. A low-maintenance beauty perfect for perennial borders and butterfly gardens where Liatris is a favorite of bees and butterflies. Allow seed heads to stand in autumn to provide seed for visiting songbirds. An excellent native selection for naturalizing in meadow plantings and tolerant of hot summers in the southern states.
