Description
A cool-season, short-growing ornamental grass, Mexican Feather Grass (Nassella tenuissima) is the winner of the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. It’s native to New Mexico, West Texas, and central Mexico and thrives in full sun and drought-prone areas. This naturalizing grass spreads vigorously by reseeding. It can provide a good solution for controlling erosion in well-drained soil. Avoid overwatering Mexican Feather Grass, which is sensitive to water and fertilizer. Mexican Feather Grass is very easy to grow, requires little maintenance, and blooms throughout the summer. This native grass will provide wildlife habitat and is used by animals for forage, cover, and nesting, and its seeds will feed songbirds.
Not recommended for California.
