Description
The evening primroses are a group of yellow-flowered plants that range from short "sundrops" to the tall ones like this species. Unlike the roadside weed, Oenothera biennis, O. lamarckiana makes a good meadow plant. Flowers open in the afternoon and are closed by morning. See related species—the ground-hugging, very large-flowered Missouri Primrose, O. missouriensis and the famous pink-flowered Showy Evening Primrose, O. speciosa.
