Poke Milkweed grows best in indirect sun or partial shade, making it a superb plant for gardens with dappled sunlight. An important resource for Monarch butterflies, the bi-colored flowers also attract a variety of beneficial insects, including some varieties of moths. Description

Perennial – blooms appear in the second season and will reappear for many years to come. 60" tall. Although Poke Milkweed is a long-lasting perennial, it does not spread as aggressively as other asclepias varieties. This makes it a smart option for smaller landscapes and more manicured gardens. Poke Milkweed is a habitat and food source for Monarch butterflies, moths, and other fascinating pollinators in your region. Like all milkweed grown from seed, this variety needs a cold period in order to germinate and is best planted in the fall or forced into cold stratification for spring seeding.
