Rose Marvel' Meadow Sage is an exciting addition to your pollinator-friendly garden. Columns of magenta flowers on burgundy stems will entice hummingbirds and butterflies, while fragrant green foliage resists deer and rabbits. Flowers are the largest of any pink meadow sage, blooming in spring and summer, and are excellent for cut flower arrangements. Plant in sun in well-drained soil. USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information
(10-12" tall x 10-12" wide) 'Rose Marvel' Meadow Sage (Salvia) explodes with vibrant color in late spring and will keep on blooming for many weeks without shearing or deadheading. The orchid pink, two-lipped flowers are the biggest of all pink meadow sages, and will attract pollinators, including hummingbirds and butterflies. Like all Salvia, 'Rose Marvel' has textured leaves that are highly resinous and fragrant – making weeding a pleasure when you brush against the strong stems of this perennial favorite. Thankfully, deer and rabbits aren't as excited by that scent and tend to ignore salvia in the landscape. Use 'Rose Marvel' as a burst of color in a rock garden, perennial bed, or container arrangement. Select a sunny, well-drained spot and plant in spring or fall, keeping evenly moist in the first year as the plant establishes itself. Salvias prefer full sun and can flop or succumb to disease in shady moist conditions. Once established, 'Rose Marvel' is a drought-tolerant star. (Salvia nemorosa)
