Prairie Violet, or Viola pedatifida, thrives in dry and well-draining soil, making it a great drought-tolerant choice for low-water and low-maintenance plantings. Only 6” at maturity, this native wildflower is the perfect choice for dry borders or small space gardens. Prairie Violet is a sun-loving variety but will tolerate some shade in warmer climates.
This native groundcover will re-seed and naturalize (spread) each year. Bright green, clumping foliage offers up bright purple blooms in April to June, depending on your region. Prairie Violet is deer resistant and easy to grow.
