Pollinators will feast on the delicate blooms of native Milkweed
Why Plant Milkweed?
Milkweed and Butterfly Weed plants, both members of the Asclepias family, are the sole food source for Monarch butterfly caterpillars. Planting a block of milkweed is the easiest way to help rebound the plummeting population of this beloved butterfly, but you might choose to plant it based on looks alone! With its saturated punch of color and constant line of visiting pollinators, this native plant has become immensely popular in perennial gardens nationwide. Choose flaming orange Butterfly Weed, the most drought tolerant of all the milkweeds, to thrive in your garden’s driest spots, or plant Swamp Milkweed in moister areas.
