Variegated Gold Bearded Iris
Description
(34" tall x 18-24" wide) 'Variegated Gold' Bearded Iris is a garden favorite with three-season foliage striped in gold and green. The late-day sun lights up this striking foliage. Topped with graceful, fragrant, lavender-colored flowers, this elegant perennial is a perfect choice planted behind lower-growing Geranium or Catmint, or in front of Foxglove, Ornamental Grasses, and Peonies. For maximum color, plant in groups of 3, 12-24" apart. Plant rhizomes in enriched, freely draining soil, slightly above the soil line. Water well, then water as needed through flowering. Remove spent blooms, and when the stem is finished flowering, cut it off at the base. Over the years, Bearded Iris will multiply and become a low maintenance, deer and rabbit resistant start of the garden.
