Wildflower Review: Photos And Testimonials

by Amanda Shepard

Many of us are looking for easy, long-lasting color in our gardens that help attract a variety of pollinators and beneficial bugs. An easy – and spectacular – solution to this garden need is Regional Wildflower Mixtures.

These wildflower mixtures are extremely easy to plant and require little water and maintenance once established. They are at home in large meadows, garden beds and even small space gardens or containers. We’ve specially formulated each mixture with varieties that thrive in different regions throughout the country, offering up color all season long with annuals in the first season and for years after with perennials.

These mixtures are a fantastic way to help a diverse group of pollinators in your area. With blooms lasting from spring all the way to frost, they're a dependable source of nectar, breeding grounds and shelter for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and more.

Here in Vermont, many of us have used the Northeast Mix in some way on our properties, helping add color and a soft touch to fence lines. We've also planted entire acres and created low-maintenance, pollinator friendly 'hellstrips' outside our city homes. We use this mixture to fill in bare spots throughout the property that we don’t feel like meticulously landscaping – it’s an instant garden!

And although we could go on and on about how much we love our regional mixtures, our customers tell the story best. We’ve featured some of our favorite customer photos and wildflower reviews below for you to enjoy.

Wildflower Reviews: Midwest Wildflower Mix

An adorable customer photo of our Midwest Mix in full bloom.

"Superb! I ordered 25 lbs of this mix to seed an almost 2 acre field that had been tilled for other purposes. Soil is clay, very wet in places and hilly. Was so pleased with the results that I ordered an additional 25 lbs to overseed in early September for spots with less coverage. Wasn't able to do any proper pre-seeding work due to the nature of the field. In spite of this, my Meadow is fabulous and every one comments on it as they drive by. The customer service was outstanding and I received personal emails in response to my questions. Would highly recommend this company and this seed mix."

"A Great Variety! We designated a large area in our yard as a wildflower/pollinator garden. We live in Maryland, and this mix was perfect! We followed instructions and watered at first, but once the flowers are about 6-8" in height, they are on their own. Our garden flourished and stayed pretty all spring/summer and should keep going into the fall months. I would definitely purchase this again and will probably add the pollinator mix too, next time. I have never been disappointed with American Meadows products or customer service!"

"Exceeded My Expectations. I have a slope at the front of my yard that was difficult to mow. We also have a community garden very near my home, so I wanted to plant something that would support our local bees. Both the bees and the birds have enjoyed the flowerbed."

"Amazing wildflower garden. When I bought this house the backyard was overgrown with heavy brush. I cleared the brush, tilled the soil, and sprinkled American Meadows wildflower mix in April. By the end of June the area was a beautiful wildflower garden and has continued throughout September with new flowers growing later in the season. People stop their cars to say how beautiful it is."

Wildflower Reviews: Pacific Northwest Wildflower Mix

Our regional mixtures look fantastic in small gardens, too! Customer photo Pacific Northwest Mix.

"Neighbors peek over the fence to see it! I must confess I really didn't prepare the planting area well. I just threw the seed out there and hoped for the best. Well. . . the best came. This seed takes off and seemingly needs nothing from mere humans. My neighbors come and peek over my fence to see what is growing. Easy. Maintenance free. Beautiful. What more could you want?"

"Reliable flowers. This was one of my first purchases from American Meadows as we had an area in our backyard that needed coverage, but was on a hill and had clay soil. After trying different flowers & failing, we decided to try some wildflowers and couldn't be happier! Easy maintenance & always a surprise, if you're looking for something that is guaranteed to grow with beautiful colors, this is it!"
