Our story began in 1981 with a mission to share the beauty and ease of wildflowers, showing that anyone can experience the joy of growing and simple satisfaction of creating something magical. What started as a means of making wildflowers accessible to everyone has grown into a purpose that still guides us today: Doing Good Through Gardening.

Over the decades, our brand has evolved, but our values have remained constant. American Meadows cultivates beautiful, joyful, responsible gardening. For us that means:

Each listing includes details on species, native range, and regional recommendations. When a plant isn’t advised for an area, it’s marked “Not Recommended for [State]” to guide responsible choices. Every product page makes it easy to see which offerings are native to North America or are cultivated nativars. All others should be considered introduced; further details can be found in the attributes and descriptions.

  • Inclusivity: We know gardening isn’t one-size-fits-all. Plant choices are as diverse as the gardeners who grow them — from those creating native-species habitats in urban areas to those cultivating rolling meadows of non-invasive, classic favorites — and everyone in between.
