Description
18-24" tall x 9-12" wide. Sugar Stars Phlox (Phlox drummondii) is an award winner that brings unique color to garden Phlox. Delightfully fragrant, plant Sugar Stars Phlox in masses among cottage style plantings and cutting beds. Also ideal for butterfly gardens where the fragrant blooms provide rich nectar for a variety of pollinators. This graceful phlox stands atop long stems for cutting. Harvest in the morning when one-third to one-half of the flowers on the stem have opened, removing the bottom leaves. Handle these delicate beauties with care and blooms will last 7 to 10 days in the vase. A selection of the Texas native, Sugar Stars Phlox tolerates dry spells and hot weather, but thrives with regular irrigation. Deadhead plants regularly for continued flowering. Annual plants can reseed under ideal conditions, so allow some spent blooms to remain if self-sowing is desired.
