"Package was a mess. Stems were damaged a little."
"Very well packaged and healthy!"
"I planted these last October at the end of the growing season and protected the small plants with leaves and mulch. They survived a chilly Northeast winter and are now thriving in a woodland location. The plants seem to be very strong and healthy and the flowers are lovely (bloomed in May). The deer have left them alone so far."
"The best one out of 3 had a broken stem, the other 2 had a brown leaf. Maybe they will have enough stored energy in the bulbs to make it, I hope…. The order was shipped 3 weeks too late for this zone, zone 4"
"These are such beautiful flowers and very easy to grow. They grow in a clump so flowers are striking. Plants were great and growing right now in my garden. Very happy!"
"Arrived in decent shape, and has grown some, it has only been planted for about two weeks. I think it will do fine."
"The plants came packages securely. They were small when the first arrived and they didn't bloom the first year. But, I was patient. . . . and this year they are starting to bloom! I am so excited to see what they will do in years to come."
"These arrived in excellent condition, bigger and more robust than I expected. They transplanted well, but the rabbits keep eating them. They've been nibbled to the ground twice now and recovered well."
"These arrived in very good condition. I was not able to plant right away but followed the directions provided. I got them in the ground about a week ago and they are thriving. Already putting out new leaves. Can't wait to see how they come up in the spring."
"I have deep shade under the trees in my front yard and these are about the only flowers that bloom reliably for me. Love the fragrance too."
Easy to grow ‘Blue Moon’ Woodland Phlox shimmers with lilac-blue blooms for a month in early-to-mid spring. With intoxicating fragrance, this lovely native plant provides valuable early season nectar for hummingbirds, swallowtail butterflies, and other pollinators. ‘Blue Moon’ flourishes in bright shade with moist, rich, well-drained soil. Plant ‘Blue Moon’ with spring blooming bulbs – its foliage will offer support and hide the any wilting leaves on neighboring bulbs. It gradually multiplies by rhizomes and spreading stems that root at the nodes. To deter spreading, simply cut back the flowers as they fade and keep the plant trimmed up. The foliage is burgundy in winter, providing another season of interest.
‘Blue Moon’ Woodland Phlox was featured as a top performer in a Mt Cuba Center Trial Garden Research Report. These reports evaluate native plants and related cultivars for horticultural and ecological value, highlighting the ecosystem services they provide.
