Description
24-36" tall x 18" wide. When an attention-grabbing flower is called for, Starring Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) fills the bill with a modern flair. Snow white standards (upwards petals) with a faint blush of lavender hover over the dark purple-black falls (downward petals). Burnt orange beards glow from the center of the flower casting an other-worldly glow. Grow this tall Bearded Iris where it can be a focal point – along a patio, with ornamental grasses, or anywhere its unusual flowers and height of 24-36" can be appreciated. Blooming in late spring, Starring also combines well with Oriental Poppies, Peonies, and Larkspur (Delphinium). After blooming, the strap-like green foliage will continue to add interest all summer long. Plant rhizomes (bulbs) in a sunny spot with well-draining soil and fertilize in spring and fall. Pinch back spent blooms to keep things tidy and cut the flower spikes back when flowering is finished. Your Bearded Iris will increase with the years, providing years of easy-care enjoyment. Deer and rabbit resistant.
