Not to be confused with the bright red window-box flower that are called "geraniums," this is the wild version of the real thing--closely related to the garden perennial geraniums like "Johnson's Blue," and "Sanguineum."
The wild one grows to only about 2 ft. and the wide-open, petunia-like flowers range from pink to purple. Beautiful blooms in early summer.

"I planted these in a bare spot under a tree. They germinated very quickly and the flowers (pale yellow with maroon centers) are delightful. They have darling puffball seedpods. I just wish the flowers lasted longer than one day. Luckily, they didn't bloom all at once, so every day new flowers appeared."

Nontrivial to Germinate
"Since American Meadows' seed packets do not include plant-specific germination instructions (and I was too lazy to look some up), I have had trouble germinating these seeds. However, I did some searching and discovered that they germinate best when sowed just below the soil's surface and kept at 40 degrees. Most of the other seeds I bought from AM germinated fine (the other two that didn't are apparently also finicky germinators), so I'm sure these seeds will also do well once I stop mistreating them."
