Plant Information

Wow! The luscious orange color, large flowers, and re-blooming, too...what more can you ask? Orange Harvest has it all. The flowers are large and substantive, and you'll have them in late spring at iris time, and again late in the summer or fall.

Growing Bearded Irises These majestic flowers are surprisingly easy to grow, and actually require less attention than almost any other garden flowers. Your iris roots will arrive with the foliage "trimmed" from this spring's growth. You'll find the "root" is not really a bulb, but what is called a "rhizome"--an irregularly shaped bulbous root that grows at a right angle from the foliage. Leave the trimmed foliage as it is, and simply bury the rhizome with the top of it showing through the soil surface. Bearded irises grow best with the tops of their rhizomes exposed.

Next spring, new foliage and the flower spikes will sprout strongly from the rhizome. What's more, next summer, you'll notice the rhizome multiplying for even more flowers as years go by.

Stunning display, but not quite as deep an orange color as shown on website. Could be my overgrown rose bush caused just a little too much shade, affecting color. Doing a hard cutback of roses, so we'll see if color is more intense orange when they re-bloom in fall.
EXTREMELY healthy and strong, fat blooms though. No disappointment here, but would like the deeper color orange.

Comments about American Meadows Reblooming Bearded Iris Orange Harvest:

The first rhizome I received rotted a week after I planted it, so AM sent me a replacement. This time it grew into a tall beautiful plant with 4 big flowers. The leaves also doubled in no time. I am waiting for it to rebloom in the fall. I also wish it was as bright as in the picture. That is what attracted me to it in the first place, so the color is a little disappointment.

Planted this close to my front door so anyone coming and going can marvel at it's beauty! The picture is spot on as it is a brilliant orange in the garden. The color really pops and it was easy to plant and so far easy to care for. Highly recommend this iris.

                        Q & A

                        Plant With These:

                        USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

                        • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
                        • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
