How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Freesia is a genus of herbaceous perennial flower plants in the family Iridaceae. It is native to Kenya and South Africa.
Plant CareFreesias should be grown in full sun and planted in moist but well drained soil. They need lots of warmth and humidity. Freesias are “zygomorphic” meaning they grow blossoms along one side of their stem, in a single plane. They are very fragrant and used for cut flowers. Freesia is suited for warmer zones. Divide after three years to prevent overcrowding.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"Most of these bulbs flowered and lasted for a long time, both in the yard and in vases, which was great! I'm giving it a 4 because I love the smell of freesias and these have very little scent. I would still buy them again."
"Beautiful but a little floppy (probably my fault). Supports helped. We planted these in a greenhouse in fall in two large clay pots. These supplied my kitchen flower vase for a full month. At least 20/25 bulbs produced flowers. We only got three colors: white, yellow, dark pink."
"I got these accidentally; an item number got mixed up. I was told to keep them (thank you, customer service!) and so of course I popped them in pots last year. I should have planted them a bit deeper, as they're inclined to fall over, but most all of the bulbs appear to have sprouted, they're beautiful and they have a delicate fragrance when you're near them. The 'mix' is really just a mix of pinks, they're lovely and I would definitely recommend them."
"Not one came up for me. I got several types of freesia but none came up. Other bulbs in my purchase came up and are lovely but only about half of the lot I ordered. Really disappointed. I don't typically have this issue."
"I love these flowers. Liked having different colors."
"I Was Very Pleased With This Product, The Bulbs Were In Excellent Condition When I received Them Very, Very Pleased With American Meadows."
