Purple Gem' Dahlia is indeed a shining gem of the border. Its violet-pink blooms are packed with layers of slender, tapered petals that glow in the summer sun. A cactus-type dahlia, 'Purple Gem' is among the most-vibrant varieties on the market. It looks extra sassy when combined with yellow zinnias, blue cornflowers, and red salvias. (Dahlia)

Stunning

"Beautiful blooms with nice long stems"

Marge (5/5)

What a gem!

"I have grown these beauties for the past 3 years now among many other Dahlia varieties and it is always the first to show up and start the Dalhia party. I usually have to practice great patience for the arrival of Dahlia blooms each season in my cooler climate. Purple Gem is always a welcomed sight as it starts shooting off bright fireworks of electric color with its exotic cactus-style flair. It has a shorter vase life than most Dahlias but that's to be expected for a cactus dahlia. It still packs a punch in a vase, especially with cactus style zinnias. The bees also seem to be particular to these blooms as the centers open up. It stays prolific until the first frost arrives. The tubers have multiplied nicely each season and that has made it lovely to share with others!"

Very Happy with this Cactus Dahlia

"This is my first experience with cactus dahlia and I'm hooked. The color is a little darker than the pictures; between a hot pink and purple. I love it! The the way the pedals curl adds a unique texture and is a great Co trast to the standard dinner plate dahlias. A note on planting: the instructions said plant 4" deep. These were large tubers so the HOLE might need to be 4" deep to hold the plant, but the crown should sit at or just below the surface. Plant them 4" deep and they will struggle to get to the surface."

Vibrant and prolific

"Great purple with long stems. Lots of blooms and health plants. One of my best performing dahlias. Not super showy as cactus varieties go. Great in big bouquets. Produced healthy tubers at the end of season."

Color is crazy

"Love the long stems great in arrangements with other garden flowers"

Pretty 😊

"The name Purple Gem is a little deceiving, I would say it's more of a pink fuchsia in color than it is purple. But it was very pretty and held up well bouquets."
