Romantique Decorative Dahlia
Description
'Romantique' is THE dahlia for gardeners who gravitate toward romantic, muted colors. A great choice for container gardeners, this dahlia produces full-petaled flowers that are 4 to 6 inches wide. Stake the plants early in the season, or pinch out the growing point of each stem to keep the plants short and promote branching. Dozens of blooms are produced from each tuber, as long as the plant is regularly deadheaded. In the garden and in the vase, the flowers are both long lasting and stunning.
Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
