Arrow-Leaf Ginger, also known as Asarum arifolium, is native. This plant should not be confused with 'wild ginger' - the deciduous Asarum canadense. Asarum arifolium has pointy shaped leaves and is slightly taller.
Ginger is a beautiful green low growing ground cover, perfect for shaded woodland areas. Good for edging and naturalizing. All ginger can be slow growing, so have patience as it can take some time for it to become established and spread. It’s definitely worth the wait once it starts to grow! In the early spring months be careful when walking or raking out woodland gardens. Ginger produces unique purple flowers or jug like blossoms that are truly different than other perennials.

Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. "Of the three, the one planted in full shade has died. The other two (in partial shade) have sprouted only a couple of small leaves. I am hoping they survive the summer and winter, and hopefully mature next summer. It's too soon to tell right now."
"These root plants were planted in the Spring and all survived. They are known to be slow growing plants so I didn't have high expectations for the first year. I hope they will spread to become a ground cover."
