Description
Aster novae-angliae is also known as New England Aster and is a critical source of food for pollinators in the fall, most notably the monarch butterfly population. While other nectar sources become scarce, long-blooming asters can supply them with the energy they need to migrate in the fall. Different than others, New England Aster loves to grow in moist, but well-draining soils, open areas, in full sun to partial shade. They are deer resistant and great for a cut flowers.
