Overview
'Red Head' Fountain Grass stands out as one of the earliest-flowering fountain grasses. 'Red Head' dazzles with bottlebrush plumes that emerge burgundy red in mid-to-late summer. Soft, fuzzy plumes shift to a silvery hue in fall and remain in place throughout winter. Flowing, ribbon-like grass blades adds texture and motion throughout the seasons, with leaves taking on yellow highlights in autumn. An excellent cut flower, fresh or dried. Description
36-48” tall x 24-30" wide. 'Red Head' Fountain Grass truly lives up to its name, with narrow blades growing in graceful, fountain-like mounds. The unique floral plumes also make a fine specimen or accent in small gardens and containers. A waterwise perennial, 'Red Head' is stunning when mass planted, and this low-maintenance grass is drought tolerant once established. Bird friendly and deer resistant, 'Red Head' makes a fine addition to wildlife habitat gardens. Plants are tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, just be careful not to plant too deep. Set crowns just at or above the soil surface when planting. Cut back foliage to the ground in spring before new growth emerges. Plants are fast growing and will quickly fill a prominent place in the sun garden.
