Description

A true lily, native to the Great Lakes and Upper Mississippi River Valley regions of North America, Michigan Lily (Lilium michiganense)is a must have perennial for your native gardens. The bold flowers feature strongly backwards-curving petals, distinguishing it from other native lilies.  Swallowtail butterflies love it, as well as hummingbirds, and many other pollinators will visit these blooms in the summer season. it Michigan Lily prefers sunny sites with medium to wet soil. sword-like leaves arranged in whorls. Good companion plants include Turtlehead and Joe-Pye Weed.
