Soulmate Swamp Milkweed
Description
24-36" tall x 24-30" wide. ‘Soulmate’ blooms a deeper rose color than other swamp milkweeds and is a prolific bloomer. Plants tolerate a wide range of growing conditions including wet soils and clay. Despite growing naturally in swamps and wet meadows, ‘Soulmate’ also performs well in average garden soils. An excellent selection for rain gardens and butterfly habitats as well as perennial beds. ‘Soulmate’ charms with slender, willow-like foliage, a strong upright structure, and attractive seed pods. Harvest seed pods before they break open for use in dried flower arrangements. When left in the garden, pods break open to release silky white seeds that float on the breeze. Plants may reseed in the garden. With a broad native range, swamp milkweed makes an ideal monarch host plant throughout much of the continental United States and eastern Canada.
