How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Growing Bearded Irises These majestic flowers are surprisingly easy to grow, and actually require less attention than almost any other garden flowers. Your iris rhizomes will arrive already growing in a small pot, with this spring’s growth beginning. A rhizome is an irregularly shaped bulbous root that grows at a right angle from the foliage. Simply remove your Bearded Iris from the pot and plant with the top of their rhizomes exposed. Once planted, the new spring foliage will continue to grow and produce gorgeous, iconic blooms. Over time, the rhizomes will spread and multiply, delivering even more Bearded Iris blooms to your planting area as the years pass.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"As we found rabbits in the backyard this year, I made sure to pick plants that were labeled as "rabbit resistant". The 2 potted rhizomes were received well-packaged and healthy. After planting according to the instructions, the plants seemed to be doing well. But by day 3, one of the rhizomes had been pulled out of the ground and was half eaten. The other plant's leaves had been chewed off and I had to put up protection around it so the rabbit wouldn't pull that one out as well. I will see what happens throughout the year."
"This flower was absolutely stunning with its striking purple and color contrast in the sales ad . I ordered and planted . Plants were healthy and in great shape upon arrival . I did not expect flowers the first year . The second spring the plants grew beautifully . I was very excited and pleased . The plants had dozens of blooms . They are finally opening . The flowers are large and very pretty , however , their color is vastly different than the ad . I know flowers have color variations but I think I may have gotten the wrong flower . I was disappointed to wait so long and now the flowers don't match the color scheme in my bed that is at the entrance of my farm . The flowers are pretty , just not what I feel I ordered ."
