Poor germination

"Second planting after being informed that product was planted to late in last year's season. I received the 2nd batch at no cost. This was planted on/around 5/12. Seeds were soaked for 2 days prior to planting as advised by another dealer. Soil was worked to a depth of 1-2 inches, and all weeds were removed. A layer of straw was put down before watering. Watering has continued twice daily since. And on most weeks, we've received at least 1 inch of rain. Granted, I've been told that my original purchase of buffalo grass will be refunded, but that fact seems to support the idea that American Meadows is aware that this is a poor product. I would love to try their weeping lovegrass, but I will not be purchasing it from this company."

Third purchase

"I first applied Buffalo grass seed in the spring of 2023. I kept it moist every day and the seed sprouted in 4 weeks. I liked the look and easy care of this grass so applied to another area last fall. The seed has also sprouted well. I have purchased this seed now for a third time to apply to the areas I missed with my spreader. The grass seed sprouts and grows great, looks good and after it becomes established is easy care."

Good grass

"We planted this on a hillside in full sun in late spring . I watered daily and in 4 weeks I started to see little grass blades. The grass sprouted and has grown well. We have purchased some more to fill in some thin patches caused by our bad spreader. We are very happy with the results."

slow to roll. . .

"mowed the grass that i had and weeds low in the hopes of killing them. once they were dead, we tilled the top couple inches of soil (loose, sandy) with a tiller. we then pulled all the dead grass and weed clumps from the soil. once leveled, we spread the seed by hand, then covered with landscaping straw. i've watered 2-3 times otherwise it has rained. it's been 2 weeks, and there's no signs of growth. temps have been in the mid70s during the day and around 55 at night. there have been more cloudy days than sunny. overall, it's been a dry year here in northeast Iowa. nothing so far. i guess if germination is poor, i will resort to planting the microclover that i sowed in the back yard. . . it's been way more productive and it's cheaper. i am disappointed."

"I tried planting a mix of this and their low-maintenance dwarf fescue in my new back yard in late spring, before summer hit. As far as I can tell, none of this stuff took despite my careful attention and massive water bill. Not worth it."
