How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
If you've never planted them before, you'll find the regular 'fall-flowering crocus', including C. sativus,, the saffron crocus, much like spring bloomers (about 4-5 inches tall). Colchicums are different, since every bulb (they're larger than the regular crocus bulbs) produces a whole bouquet of flowers. One Colchicum bulb will send up between 5 and 10 stems, and each one will soon bear a flower.
So plant either or both, and enjoy some brilliant spring color in your garden when you need it the most--in fall!
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"Beautiful late fall color. Easy to grow. Multiple blooms per bulb."
"Added two bulbs to one I have enjoyed for years"
"Beautiful in my flowet bed"
"I planted 3 bulbs on a shallow ceramic pot along with some grape hyacinth bulbs I had from last year. The grape hyacinth leaves came first and then the Colchicum flowered for almost a month. Nice and effortless arrangement."
"I love it. 3 blooms on 1 bulb. Bloomed on time. This is the first year. It was very easy to plant. I would like to buy more of these next year. I put it in a border bed along a patio."
"Loved it!"
"Lovely blooms (got 2 blooms from 1 bulb in its first season), have previously gotten 5 blooms out of one of these bulbs. They are a wonderful little surprise for the Fall, especially when you don't think anything is going to come up and the weather is turning cold. Unfortunately they are fairly delicate and will plop over in full bloom if it rains harder than a sprinkle. They are a little funny looking without foliage, so if you have a sunny-partial shade spot with an evergreen creeper, these would be fabulous tucked throughout."
"great color"
"Ordered and planted 5 bulbs. 3 bloomed the first autumn, but the blooms were somewhat stunted, Hoping that the second year will produce more and better blooms."
"I am not easy on the plants in our garden. . . I don't like to fertilize or even water much, and we live in the high desert with highly alkaline soil. So I was very pleased 1) That these bloomed at all their first fall after I planted them last August and 2) That the plant sent up leaves this spring, assuring me that this bulb had survived the winter and was getting ready to bloom again this year once fall comes around! The first year it only made 2 blooms, I figure this is normal and staff assures me that is the case and that it should make more blossoms in subsequent years. Our yard has ground squirrels AND gophers, so it's a hazardous environment. Definitely a fan of this fabulous bulb!"
