(3-4” tall) Spring Beauty Crocus (Crocus mimimus), a sweet, miniature crocus that flowers in late winter or early spring, is described perfectly by both its names. Light violet blooms 3-4” tall are marked with deeper plum-colored flames on the outer petals which contrast strikingly against yellow stamens. Petals do not tend to splay open, which also adds to their charm. The foliage is deep green and grass-like, with a characteristic silver stripe down the mid-vein. Due to its early bloom and small size, Spring Beauty Crocus is a great choice for naturalizing in lawns where the foliage can be mown a little earlier than other larger flowering crocus. Spring Beauty is also a rock garden favorite due to its size, and can be grown in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Plant 4” deep and 3-4” apart. Why not provide for your early pollinators with this sweet spring beauty?!

"I felt the would be nice as a first row at the very front of my garden. They showed up on time and the fizzed out before flowering."
"These flowers were very small and probably need to be planted with some larger crocuses so they pop or clumped all together. The were the first to bloom in my yard which was exciting but they just seemed puny. They were hardly noticeable. And some weren't very successful. I'm not sure if they were disturbed by critters or what. The ones that were unsuccessful, the green sprouts were somehow detached from the bulb."
"I was so excited to see my first spring blooms on March 17th that I didn't mind so much white color. Little did I know the show was just beginning! On March 20th they were wide open, and by March 25th full glory! Beautiful purple stripes show more on cloudy days and yellow pistils on sunny days! Beautiful everyday!"
