If Halloween were in spring, this tulip would probably be Number 1. Its the result of decades of work trying over and over to breed a truly black tulip. Queen of the Night is the closest any of the Dutch hybridizers have ever come to black, even though it's really a deep deep purple. In some light it appears jet black. And in arrangements, it is the flower arranger's darling and the gardener's pride. The experts in Holland tell us men particularly love this tulip along with the pure red ones. It's just as easy to grow as all the others, so why not invite the dark queen into your garden, and watch the neighbors oooh and ahhh.

"My first purchase from American Meadows. They arrived just in time to plant in the fall. All the bulbs were healthy and are now blooming beautifully. The blooms are smaller than expected, but I only noticed this because I planted them with white tulips that have larger cups. However, they make up for size by having multiple blossoms from each bulb."
"These beauties are lovely. I was afraid the squirrels in my yard would eat the bulbs before they bloomed. Lucky for me, the tulips were able to bloom."
"Planted according to direction late last fall and was disappointed to see only half grew this spring. Those that did come up were lovely, though. None of the other varieties I planted in the same bed in the same conditions had issues. They were the ideal late-blooming tulip and I will likely try again with this variety in the future. ."
"After traveling to Bath, U. K. and seeing these planted in nearby gardens, we just had to have some of our own! All of our bulbs grew purple/black Tulips this (first) year. Followed the directions in Fall and by early spring we were greeted with these beauties!"
"Queen of the Night is GORGEOUS- Tall and stately, she was the last to emerge- breathtaking color, velvety, almost black- highly recommend this to any tulip lover looking for tall, dark, and beautiful"
"First time planting tulips they came up beautiful. Wasn't sure if I planted them deep enough but they grew beautiful."
"Beautiful. Stands out and says look at me."
"I ordered these back in Nov. to Idaho when we still had no snow and was "hopeful" to get them in the ground. They arrived in a timely matter but the weather had not held. So I saved them and kept them in a cold garage all winter long. I planted them a few days ago in a flower bed around my new flagpole. When I opened the package, there was a little mold but sprouts, so I am hopeful they do take root and bloom. It has been raining non-stop since I managed to get them in the ground, so I am hopeful."
"These tulips are amazing. All of the bulbs came up, and the blooms were a sultry shade of deep, dark purple. I planted with some red/yellow tulips for contrast, and it was stunning. I highly recommend this bulb."
"This tulip is amazing! The last to bloom and well worth the wait. I planted them in containers in the backyard and they grew quite well, I also used the bulb fertilizer sold here and that helped. These flowers look great in a vase on the dinner table or out in the garden. Easy to grow for any level of gardener!"
