Stresa is one of the true classics of the tulip world. It was one of the earliest hybrids from the mostly crocus-sized 'wild tulips,' and one that had two important rare characteristics: It was naturally a bi-color, and the flowers were large. The hybridizers quickly 'improved' it a bit, giving us a beauty that is still one of the most popular 'rockgarden' tulips in the world. Stems are only 10 to 12', but the blooms are large and retain their long, elegant shape and beautiful coloring. Best of all, Stresa, like other species or near-species tulips is dependably perennial. In many areas, it actually spreads.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. "I planted 20 Stresa Rock Garden Tulips with Blue Moon Dutch Crocus and the look was stunning. The Stresa Tulips were bi-color red and yellow and the Blue Moon Crocus complimented them perfectly. I received many compliments from neighbors."
"Great. Comes back every year! Very healthy and striking appearance. First tulip in my garden each year. At first the stems are short and the blooms are half hidden among the leaves. But the systems quickly grow to expose the beautiful blooms. So don't panic! :-) Requires no special care. I live in the high desert and I do not fertilize or water these. And they perform wonderfully every year."
