How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
But whatever you call it, you'll love the nodding flowers and the plant's habit of spreading into larger and larger clumps. It's great in bulb gardens, perennial borders, along walks--anywhere you'd like lovely spring color year after year. And if you have a woodland area, it's a great naturalizer.
Our bulbs are actually the Spanish Bluebell type, and they are somewhat larger and different from English Bluebells. In fact, the Spanish type have been planted in England and there is concern there since the Spanish variety is crossing with the English type, and some conservationists there are concerned the Spanish 'Invader' will overwhelm the native English Bluebell. Fortunately, we have no problem here in No. America, since we have no native species. The Dutch breeders ship us the Spanish type since they are the larger flowers, and now available in several colors.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"The bulbs arrived shriveled, I planted immediately anyway. I remain hopeful for the spring though. I will note, I also ordered the Spanish bluebells mix they had for sale and those were large, plump, and firm. If the do not grow, I'd just buy from one of the other billion online bulb-stores."
"Spanish Hyacinth is the answer for my woodland garden in spring. These are so much easier to grown that Virginia bluebells and they multiply like crazy! Bloom every year! As the garden has expanded to encircle the lot I just order moresck them in the ground and wait for the show to start in Spring. Can't be beat!"
"I live in Texas zone 8a. I planted these bulbs in November and they all emerged in March. They were healthy and beautiful. I spread them around under my giant red oak. I hope they spread more on their own for next Spring. Such a lovely Spring flower."
"I planted the bulbs in 2 groups spaced per the instructions. All the bulbs came up and were left alone by the rabbits. Very healthy looking for their first year. I expect they will fill in over the next few years. Very happy - will be purchasing more"
"These bulbs are stunning in a border planting, rock garden and as accents. Can grow in sun or part sun locations. Easy !!!"
"I planted this wood hyacinth variety two falls ago after seeing a wonderful glade full of blue hyacinth while visiting the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens with my niece. They bloom as the daffodils are fading, extending the spring bloom season. The color is lovely and the blooms long-lasting. Our rapacious deer don't touch them. The bulbs are small and easy to plant, and the clumps are even fuller this year than last. In short, I can't find anything wrong with them! Last fall I ordered wood hyacinth from another reputable supplier. while the color was good, I was disappointed by their comparatively short stature and spindly leaves, so I am back to American Meadows for more!"
"Planted in my tree lot,to remind me of when I grew up in England. They will spread."
"nicest in a clump"
"They're advertised as all blue, and they mostly are, but some are pink."
