Watered twice a day…even more when it was hot. Nothing!

"It must have gotten dry at some point, that's all I can surmise. Watered every day early morning before sunrise and then after sunset. More if the day was hot. Covered with straw. My clover is doing fine, but it was already established. Guess I need to get some more, because I trust American Meadows and have used their products for years. Gotta be a problem on my end."

New Yorkers buy this

"Maybe this is more expensive than what you find in HD, I haven't compared because since I've been buying this for a few years I resist the urge to impulse buy lower quality. I completely disagree with review said it didn't grow. You do have to make sure it doesn't dry out for the first 2 weeks after planting. But after that we thought it was much easier to grow than any other seed in New York. It's more drought resistant and is much happier than the other brands, growing healthier and thicker each year when it comes back. It is truly a beautiful grass that requires less effort since it's a native mix. We don't believe in perfect grass that requires too much precious water and fertilizer. We add clover to the lawn as well. We don't spray pesticides. If you like the green but want to do it in a way that helps all of us preserve water and reduce toxins, use this seed. Our neighbors constantly compliment our garden with its pollinator plants and not one has ever complained about our lawn or flowers. In fact they stop and admire. I see our clover popping up in their lawns from time to time with happy bees and it makes me smile. I recommend to neighbors all the time!"

Didn't even sprout

"Not sure what I did wrong, but I spread the seeds, raked them in and watered, all in the Spring before temps got too hot. I live in Virginia (zone 7), which this native mix says is good for. We also put down straw over the seeds to help protect and retain moisture. They never even sprouted."

This grass kicks . . .

"This grass is fantastic. It aggressively covered my insanely hot full sun lawn in one season. I dont like spreading it by hand, as the seeds are simply too large to be spread with a spreader, but you don't need much to make a real difference. This seed genuinely does not need a lot of water and absolutely grows more slowly. Reduced mowing by 20-25%. I left it always at a height if about 3", hardly watered after seeding and its fought off every weed except dandelions. Those I still need to remove by hand, but nothing else stands up to this stuff in Connecticut."
