Cherokee Sunset Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia) casts an autumn glow across the garden with large double and semi-double blooms burning in radiant yellow, orange, and copper hues. A dark mahogany center and chocolate brown eye accent the warm tones. Sturdy, upright stems and bright green foliage resist deer and rabbit browsing. An award-winning beauty for season-long color. Easy-to-grow self-seeding annual in cooler zones. (Rudbeckia hirta)

They looked great on arrival,

"They looked great on arrival, was looking forward to growth but the squirrels ate them to the ground!"

Gorgeous and Unique BES

"I bought this black-eyed susan last year, and it was gorgeous. Unfortunately, some hungry critters ate it this year, so I bought it again. It is so unique and adds a different color to the garden at this time of year than the typical Black-Eyed susans (which I also have). I love this plant, and I think everyone should try it!"

Love These

"This is a new plant and is still very small. I had one of these previously, but my new gardener thought it was a weed and pulled it along with another one. Grrrrr. The previous ones grew beautifully and looked as good as the pictures on the website. I bought two of each of the new flowers and anticipate some beautiful flowers over the years. These plants are hardy and the flowers on the stalk stay beautiful for a long time before they die."

Somewhat pleased

"I order 10 of these. Out of the 10, two very small and poor looking. I water them as several were dry and placed them on the screened in porch for two days before planted them in the ground them in the ground. The two in questioned died. The other 8 seem to be growing. Hopefully no other issues. I am now short two in the bed throwing off the design. They are also no longer available."

Ok so far

"Most growing fine but three had issues and two have died."

Shipping Issues

"Several years back I bought two Prairie Sun Black Eyed Susans and two Cherokee Sunset Black Eyed Susans. They came in April, which was already to late for Southern New Mexico. Two of the plants were in bad shape but they made it. The other two were in really bad shape and didn't make it. I still have the note I wrote about the two losers: Seven dead, six broken, and seven leaves left between the two of them. The two that survived eventually thrived and were gorgeous. Sadly my two new yard guys pulled out some plants they weren't supposed to and they took my two remaining Susans out at the same time. I hope you will consider splitting the cost with me."

Highly recommend!

"Beautiful flowers that bloom for a long time. Able to handle southern exposure to the sun and require minimal care. Received many compliments on these. Extremely pleased with the quality!"

Frustrated

"Love the color, but only 3 blooms which were so heavy on the stalks that they hung to the ground all summer. Must also be very finicky with temperatures and soil types. Followed planting instructions."

Frustrated (1/5)

Challenging

"We had bought this home that had been not been lived in for at least 3 years and nothing had been done in the terraces. There are 3 rock filled terraces that descend down to a river and the soil is not very good so I have been pulling out lots of overgrowth and replanting so now it's time to fill in the blank areas. It has really been a challenge to plant things and try to keep them alive even though I do try to dig out the rocks and sandy soil and replace it with good soil and then fertilize. So far your products are doing well nothing spectacular but if they survive over the winter the battle is halfway won. I'm being very optimistic because these flowers are still alive and doing fairly well."
