Blackberry Lily, sometimes called Leopard Lily, produces sword-like leaves topped by stunning orange flowers that are thickly mottled with crimson-red spots. Technically an iris, Blackberry Lily is quite easy to care for and often blooms in its first year. Excellent in cut flower arrnagements whether fresh or dried, this plant also produces blackish berries that look lovely in a vase. (Iris domestica)

Breathtaking Beauty!

"These small lilies are easy to grow and are so very attractive!"

Great So Florida Plant

"I dug this up from neighbors lawn last year, she didn't know what it was but had received it from a friend in the Keys. It spreads and can be dug up and placed in pots or directly in the ground. It has bloomed the first year and is magnificent. I'm giving some to my daughter in Woodstock, Ga. She has a problem with deer eating her plantings. These are supposed to be deer resisstent We shall see."

Love this plant

"This plant does better when ignored. Do not cut dead flowers. These will be your blackberry flowers in the fall. This flower will multiply"

Petite, adorable flowers

"The foliage for these isn't evergreen, but it is very attractive throughout the growing season! For us in zone seven high desert, it blooms mid August with many tiny, tiny flowers that are so cute! Each blossom lasts only a day, the same as for Mexican shell-flower. One year we over fertilized with not completely composted equine manure. It didn't kill the plants permanently, but it burned them for the year. So don't make that same mistake, they don't need a ton of feeding or even much water past their first season. I think they look nice with dark pink and/or purple flowers near them. And I love that they come back every year without having to be brought inside."

Love it!

"I have been growing this gem in my rock garden for quite a few years now. My favorite part is in the fall when all the seeds come on. They do look like large blackberries! Beautiful!"

wonderful plant

"A friend gave me a small bag of the little black seeds, planted them in September, and by spring - - growing wonderfully! an inch a day. Mid-summer, flowering daily - again and again. It took me over a year to figure out what this plant was (thought it was an iris), and now I know it is a blackberry lily. I saved lots of seeds from the plants and now I am planting them elsewhere in my yard - - behind other plants as they get to be a good 3+ feet in height. Hardy and just lovely. Love them!"
