Happy and Healty

"I originally put this in the ground in a large area with crepe myrtles and perennial flowers. It wasn't happy there, so I moved it into a large container with more sunshine. It is now thriving and trying to put out spikes of pretty purple flowers. Don't ever be afraid to move things around if they need a different spot. Plants are tougher than you think!"

It's dying

"It was beautiful when purchased. But I made the mistake of planting this one and two of the white butterfly bushes in the ground at quart size. They're struggling to survive and will likely die. Plants were healthy at arrival. I should have moved them to a gallon pot for more growth before planting in the ground."

black knight butterfly bush

"She was shaped good, is now growing two opposing stems, has already tripled in size. She'll just need nursing until she gets able to sustain herself. I'm looking forward to this plant doing well!"

One of my favorite plants already.

"Starts off small but it's healthy and vibrant and I can tell it's on it's way to being a dominate part of the yard."

Very healthy

"It arrived quickly and is doing well in our new butterfly garden. #sweepstakes"

I'm still waiting for the plant to show good growth.

"May be too soon to grade the plant?"

Bloomed beautifully, but for only 3 years.

"Began as a 'stick' with three leaves, then grew three ft tall with lots of beautiful dark spikes. Attracted many interesting butterflies. Sadly, this wonderful plant did not survive the 2022-2023 NJ winter. We did not have that much snow, but temps dipped to single digits several times. Don't know why it did not come back. I now have the sad task of breaking off all the dead stems. Perhaps I'll buy another ant try again."

It's hanging in there!

"It is surviving in spite of our drought. I have confidence in American Meadows products as I usually have success with them. I think it will take some time for this little guy to establish due to our harsh weather this year."

it's a winner

"trim back in spring when you see new growth near the base- THEN trim off the dead to just above the new growth. Mine was 12 inches in spring after trimming and by fall it was about 5 ft high and wide. We have it right by the deck rail. We saw all kinds of pollinators up close when sitting at the table 2 ft away. Took pics. I'm wondering what the lifespan is? This is our favorite in the flower bed. we're in zone 4 southwest WI"

LOVE this butterfly bush!

"Planted this guy last October. . . . . and he is really showing out this June! Deep purple, long lasting blooms, growing very fast. . . . . I'm impressed!"
