‘Starship Deep Rose’ Cardinal Flower has rose-pink tubular flowers that open along strong flowering stems in mid-summer, attracting hummingbirds and pollinators into autumn. For a garden or meadow that stays fairly moist, ‘Starship Deep Rose’ should be at the top of your list! The margins of a rain garden, water feature, pond, or quietly flowing stream are perfect for this North American native. Low-to mid-growing lanceolate foliage is a deep burnished green and provides a perfect foil to the rose-pink flowers. ‘Starship Deep Rose’ blooms earlier than most Lobelias – a terrific improvement upon a treasured native plant. (Lobelia x speciosa)

"Arrived healthy and growing great after planting in the garden."

Filling in the gap

"I'm using them in a perennial garden where I have a gap in blooms"

Few flower stalks

"I bought 2 of these plants and set aside 4' in my garden for them in an area that gets morning sun and afternoon shade. I mixed compost and worm castings in the soil and fertilized them every 2 weeks but they barely grew flower stalks. The color of the very few flowers that did grow was very pretty but the plants only grew about 1 foot wide and 12" tall and only 1 or 2 stalks at a time so the garden looked almost empty in that area. Hopefully, they live through the winter and flower better next year."

Not the best environment

"Houston Tx is extremely hot and VERY humid. It's not doing great for me. I think it's the climate. It's alive."

Anita (3/5)

The plants are beginning to bloom, just love the color!

"The color plus the size will work will in most locations. I moved to Kentucky from Illinois and had to start over with a flower garden. The clay here is a challenge but flower don't seem too mind"

Just stsrting to grow

"Plant seems small. Plants i recieved last fall have not grown well - blue lobielias failed and only one iris grew. Very disappapointed. Also in 2 cases- blue lobelia last Fall and one of the items i got this year both had one fewer roits in the bag than there was supposed to be."
