How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Anyone who's ever taken a hike in midsummer woods anywhere in the east probably knows this stunning plant. Cardinal flowers bloom with tall spikes of lipstick red flowers in August in wet American woodlands all the way from Canada to Louisiana.
Queen Victoria at about 3 feet is a little shorter than the native, and the color is a little deeper velvety red. You'll love these vivid flowers as much as the hummingbirds. Pick a moist spot in sun or partial shade for yours.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (802) 227-7200 or contact us by email or chat.

"Plants arrived very healthy!! Great for attracting hummingbirds to the yard. Highly recommend!!"
"I took the directions seriously on this one and plopped it into our super clay laden soil that stays wet most of the time, even with a drainage trench dug in. This plant is growing like a champ in an area where even the weeds tend to avoid. No blooms yet (Zone 6a), but I don't expect many on the first year of growth since it's working on establishing itself in the mess I have put it in."
"Very vibrant red spiky flowers late summer. Looking forward to plant getting larger spread in years to come!"
"Attractive to bees and butterflies"
"Got two plants in about a month ago with beautiful purple leaves. The plants have lost most of their delicate purple leaves for very hardy green leaves. . . We shall see."
"These plants are beautiful and grew fast for a few months. They got to 4' tall and were flowering. The foliage color and broght red flowers are stunning. Then I went out of town for a week when it was rainy, and I returned to these poor plants destroyed by snails. There were snails all over the short little nubs that were left. I immediately got some Sluggo, but it was too late to save them. I learned my lesson! Just be sure to control any snail population if you order these. The leaves must be delicious because no other plants were touched by the snails. I may order these plants again next spring since they were so pretty, and hardy up until the snail debacle."
"Plants arrived healthy and vibrant- packaged very well, protected, and the soil is moist. We are putting them in native rain garden in MN- full sun and moist, well drained soil."
"Planted this year. Healthy plants arrived & grew quickly, however there are only about 5 2-3' tall stems that are now falling over. Both plants have flowered. Hope they survive the winter & come back bushier and are able to stay upright."
"It is still only about 3 inches tall. Naturally, it has not bloomed yet."
"Can't wait to see how they do next year!"
