A heavy bloomer with mass appeal, ‘Annabelle’ Hydrangea illuminates the shade garden. Plants bloom for up to two months in June and July, with flower heads remaining attractive all summer and into the fall. Some gardeners even enjoy a small repeat bloom in autumn. ‘Annabelle’ flowers are excellent for fresh-cut or dried arrangements. Large, dark green foliage accents the bright blooms in the garden. Plants flower on the current season’s growth, also called new wood. Pruning stems back to the ground in late winter encourages growth of strong new stems. ‘Annabelle’ grows in a rounded mound, making a shapely accent in the woodland garden. Also great for massing in mixed beds and perennial borders, or naturalizing in native plantings. ‘Annabelle’ Hydrangea has no serious insect or disease problems.
'Annabelle' was featured as an honorable mention in a Mt Cuba Center Trial Garden Research Report. These reports evaluate native plants and related cultivars for horticultural and ecological value, highlighting the ecosystem services they provide.

"I've removed the grass from my backyard and have been working on making a pollinator for the last three years. The hydrangeas were planted last year. They survived the cold, Iowa winter and the relentless rabbits. This year, they BLOOMED! I've purchased many plants from American Meadows thanks to their complete descriptions and reasonable prices. I haven't been disappointed yet. Thank you, American Meadows!"
"Love Annabelle. I plant between 2 blue hydrangeas and it keeps it from flopping over."
"Extremely disappointed. Will never order again. Could've saved my money going to a local nursery where I'd not only support local business but get far better quality in plants. After missing part of another order beer, all of my plants were clearly overwatered and looked sick (Lots of yellow and brown with leaves falling off and wilted). In addition, one of my hydrangeas had a snapped stem which was the only healthy looking one. Had to tie it up to support it so hopefully it can grow back together- what a joke! Save your money and time and do not order from this online vendor."
"Easy to grow. Just add water and watch it make big bushy green leaves then the green blossoms turn bright white and keeps making new ones all summer"
"It's gonna be a great addition to my other flowers. Looks real nice. Growing fast"
"very pleased with everything, THANK YOU!!"
"My Annabelle Hydrangea is absolutely beautiful! It was planted in early summer of 2021. The 1st season, the plant stayed small but showed healthy green foliage. The 2nd season, it was full size - 4 feet tall and full of white blooms. It looks wonderful on the corner of my house with Balloon Flowers, Echinacea, Heliopsis & Echinops all planted near by."
"The plant arrived healthy and larger than expected and grew quickly within the first season. While it is the first year, I did not have blooms (didn't expect to) but look forward to seeing how much this shrub grows next year and can't wait to enjoy my blooms in the years to come. Patience is key, but I can't wait to see this hydrangea when it is mature!"
"I bought four of these hydrangeas to plant along my fence. Although I buy from American Meadows every year I was surprised how small the hydrangeas were when they arrived. But now 3 months later each of the plants have grown beautifully and are taking in well. Can't wait for next year to see if I get some flowers!"
"This is an awful buy. I ordered this Snowball Hydrangea, and the first one arrived with leaves, but the leaves soon fell off the plant and it died. I contacted American Meadows and got a replacement plant, which arrived with two twigs--one of which was dead and the other one was all scratched, but it was green. I contacted American Meadows, and they told me the plant was dormant and just plant it. I did, but it never grew. Meanwhile, I've purchased another Hydrangea plant from a local home improvements store and that one grew and bloom beautifully. I am very disappointed with the Annabelle Snowball Hydrangea from American Meadows."
