'Karl Foerster' Feather Reed Grass creates a dramatic garden accent, with tall, slender, vertical growth and feathery plumes of shifting bronze color that stay in place year-round. An early bloomer, 'Karl Foerster' is a cool season grass that grows most rapidly in the spring season and produces notably early blooms. It is a clump-forming decorative grass, with an upward architectural growth habit, making it a dramatic specimen plant in garden or meadow. Torch-like plumes are widely used in dried flower arrangements. This sterile variety does not self-sow, is deer resistant, and notably cold hardy. (Calamagrostis acutiflora)

I will definitely be buying again

"The Karl Reed Foerrester grass was rather small when received. But extremely healthy. In a very short period of time they have all now tripled in size. This isn't the first time I have purchased plants from American meadows. Every purchase I have ever made is just absolutely thriving. I love 💕 this nursery. Will never shop anywhere else now."

Creek side border

"18 plants are all doing well. Half are in their second year and the others were planted this spring. We are excited to see what next year bring as they become more established. They are perfect for the area where we planted them and will make a nice border to the back of our lot next to the creek bed."

Excellent product

"This plant arrived healthy and well packed. I planted it in a large pot and is well over six feet tall now. I anticipate planting it in the yard next spring. I will most definitely buy from American Meadows again."

Karl Forrester grass

"Awesome company! I called to ask them to delay shipment as our spring decided to be late. Friendly, curteous, shipped when I asked and arrived healthy and well packed. I could not have asked for better!"

I like it!

"So far I like them. Slow growing so far, but perhaps that is normal for them. Both grasses look healthy and pretty blowing in the breeze."

Doing great!

"The plants were very well packaged and green upon arrival. We set them out as a border along our road. Only care we gave them was water when set out, and mulched within a few days. They look good and are growing great! Our weather conditions have been perfect this summer and every single plant has survived and is thriving!"

Yes

"My 9 Karl Foerster grasses were planted on a border but I added some Miracle Grow fertilizer…. big mistake!! Some plants have no green any longer…. but all brown."

Excellent quality, not first purchase and not last!

"I purchased and planted these grasses in 2021. They arrived healthy due in part to excellent packaging. They were abt 6 inches tall when they arrived, went dormant during the winter and this spring 2022 they grew quickly to 3 feet. I'm trying to find other areas on my property to plant more."
