'Karley Rose' is the most famous Fountain Grass, known for its highly decorative rose-purple plumes that catch sunlight like no other. Excellent in containers and when planted en masse, 'Karley Rose' is a cold-hardy variety that holds its sprays of blooms throughout the season. Tolerant of both drought and partial shade, this fountain grass delivers plenty of winter interest and has no major pest or disease issues. PP#12909 (Pennisetum orientale)

Love watching these sway in the breeze

"We've been in our home for a year and a half now, and while I do plan to DIY a solid fence in the future, the backyard is currently enclosed in a black, chain-link fence. With a dog who barks at dogs, and another dog who barks at people, the open vista can lead to lots of barking at high traffic times of the day! I purchased these fountain grasses to line one side of the fence, which faces the bit of the road where people are most likely to walk past (with or without their own doggies). I wanted something that will provide some cover, so the dogs are less likely to detect passersby and get to talkin. Initially, I received a large tray of these in April of 2024. I planted them all along the fence line and waited! One of the plants was annihilated by one of my dogs - who was looking for a cool spot to lay and decided the freshly turned dirt was the way to go. Two of the plants failed to thrive, but I don't know enough to know why. It may or may not have been my fault. Ultimately, 6 of the 9 I ordered have popped up and turned into very pretty sights already! They were shipped to me as dormant, baby plants — so they basically looked like shards of hay in dirt. I planted them just as they were, according to the directions, and I've been really impressed with how much they've already grown in 6 months. I'm planning to re-plant in the missing spots, but pics will show the ones that survived. The wisps at the top have a really pretty purplish tint, and I'm very pleased with them already!"

A must for your garden!

"The Karley Rose brings a smile to my face whenever I go to my garden. I love how it adds a touch of whimsy to my flower garden and also to my cut flower arrangements."

Karley Rose is a big hit!

"My border needed something other than evergreens and the usual perennials. Karley Rose Fountain Grass fit the bill perfectly. About 24" tall with a mauve bristle tip, they add to the colors of my Limelight Hydrangeas as they turn mauve in the Fall. The plants arrived healthy with plenty of roots but looked like they had been plucked from my lawn, lol. I kept them well watered, and just a few months later they are filled out, tall and blooming. Better than I had expected. I will be buying more of them for another section of the garden."

Small starter plants that have really taken off.

"Used this in a mixed border. Small plant upon arrival, but thriving and filling out nicely. Can't wait to see this next spring to compare."

I love grasses!

"Living in the mountains of central Pennsylvania Fountain grasses have proven to be very hardy throughout our harsh winters and throughout all the summer variances that are thrown our way."

LOVE IT!

"I am so happy with this plant! It has grown beautifully & the colors are outstanding! The only warning I would offer is it's huge! A bit bigger than I thought it would be so I will be moving it to another location. I do intend to order a couple more for other areas of my lawn."
