ZONES  9-10 | Good to grow! Zone

Purple Fountain Grass is among the most prized ornamental grasses, celebrated for its soft rosy plumes and maroon foliage. Nodding flower spikes arch gracefully away from the upright foliage, providing elegant architecture and a dramatic accent in sunny beds. Gorgeous as a focal point in containers, when massed in flowing waves through the landscape, or planted in clusters for big impact. The ruby plumes make stylish cut flowers, fresh or dried. Perennial in zones 9-10, grow as an annual in all other zones. Will not reseed. (Pennisetum setaceum)

Very Satisfied

"This plant thrived immediately. Especially once we put the drip watering on it. It grew big quick fwith those beautiful rose colored plums I'm so glad I planted it close to the patio so we can see it all the time. I want another one."

It filled the space I wanted to fill.

"The grass and plumbs are beautiful. I get compliments all the time of how nice they look. I was looking for grass not over four feet, they have topped six. A little more then I was hoping, but they are beautiful, I will learn to live with them."

Yes

"Placed plant in garden with full sun. Plant died out. Will see if it withstands Wisconsin winters and if it comes up next spring. Covered with bags of leaves to protect it. Think maybe the sun was too hot for plant where I planted it."

Beautiful plant

"We ordered this because we couldn't find it in the garden shops here in Pittsburgh. We are from Texas and had these in the corner flower beds around the pool. You plant them and do nothing but watch them grow. They get beautiful plumes on them and the reddish purple color is amazing. We planted it in a large pot and placed the pot in front of our a/c unit that sits in the front flower bed. It hides the ugly a/c unit and the plumes dance in the breeze when the a/c compels on."

~ Beautiful plants ~

"I live in a 2nd floor condo with a deck, and I purchased 2 of these plants. I planted them and put them on either end of my deck. They grew quickly, and they are absolutely beautiful. They are very tall and wide with lovely plumes. They just look beautiful and unique from the sidewalk and street. They only get the morning sun. I couldn't be more pleased."

Neighborhood Landmark- Everyone loves it

"When I turned over our front lawn to plants and flowers I needed some sort of focal point with a lot of Wow factor. I saw the ornamental grasses offered on the American Meadows site and picked two varieties to start with. Delivery was prompt, including planting directions, tips and lots of encouragement. I planted the Purple Fountain Grass and hoped for the best. It has grown to such a wonderful height and bounty that my neighborhood has expressed admiration and pleasure at seeing it daily. I live on a main street and wanted to provide fun, wit and interest for the good people of Medford. Dog walkers, runners, joggers, stroller-pushers stop by to compliment my garden, especially noting the splendor of the Purple Fountain grass. I haven't any criticism about the plants ordered, they have been healthy, prolific and add so much color and creativity to my front yard garden. I ordered more for next year!"
