'Sarah Bernhardt' is a beloved Peony with large double flowers in fresh, pastel pink. Introduced in 1906, this longtime favorite blooms dependably year after year and presents a healthy amount of emerald green foliage to add interest to the garden throughout the season. Also known for its fragrance, 'Sarah Bernhardt' makes a great cut flower - try it in arrangements or float it all by itself in a simple bowl. Like all peonies, this one is deer resistant, cold hardy and extremely long-lived. (Paeonia lactiflora)

Reviews

Survivor of a long wet winter and unusually hot summer

"I enjoy the leafy green display of sturdy stems this plant provides after flowering, especially during the heat of summer."

Peony bulbs

"Planted these Sarah Bernhardt bulbs in fall last year and the leaves came up this spring. I read that they will probably not flower until the second year so hoping next spring they will flower! My client loves peonies so will probably add more this fall."

Jo (3/5)

Such beautiful flowers

"The first year was a bad drought and I thought they all died. This year looks better. Love the color."

G (5/5)

I am looking forward to seeing my Sarah Bernhardt's

"It is potentially too hot in the Pinehurst area of North Carolina to plant, so I have heavily watered sometimes twice/day. I look forward to a year of two from now once fully rooted."

Bonnie (4/5)

Growing Quickly

"Came healthy and ready to go. Easy to follow instructions. It's already taking off. Can't wait to see flowers next season."

Jen (5/5)

Seems to be doing well.

"Got it in the ground a few days ago and seems to be doing well. #sweepstakes"

THE Prettiest Peony

"This is the most iconic peony! It's a must have in my book. The lush flowers are really stunning and they smell amazing. Plus they last forever in a vase. I will be staking these now that my plant is mature so that the huge heavy flowers don't drop. Love them!"

Kendall (5/5)

My plants look healthy but there are no buds at all.

"Want them to look great in front of the house"

Buddy (3/5)

I have this plant and just bought two others

"I'm amazed that after planting the root it grew so well,. And now in the second year I got two huge blooms. The plant stalks are still to young to hold up the weight of the flowers, but they will next year. The pix are from this year. We had a heavy :cloud_with_rain:️ so I cut them and put them in a vase. Good luck,. Peonies are beautiful."

Casino J. (5/5)

Very pleased

"Followed directions (didn't plant to deep). I wasn't expecting a bloom being that I just had planted this past Fall. Well to my surprise I got a healthy & beautiful bloom."
